RESEARCH ON MOOREA
The Moorea Coral Reef Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) program
conducts scientific investigations of and documents long-term changes in
the coral reef ecosystem surrounding the island of Moorea, French
Polynesia. The main science themes that form the core of the Moorea Coral
Reef LTER program include:
- understanding the basic ecology of corals, including variation in ecological performance;
- examining the population dynamics of key groups of coral reef organisms;
- investigating food web and nutrient dynamics; and
- studying the maintenance and functional consequences of biodiversity.
