Coral Report

portrait of Jackie Hi! I’m Jaclyn Mandoske and I’m a fourth year majoring in aquatic biology with a minor in professional writing and multimedia communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I’m interested in coral ecology and molecular genetics, and I’m also interested in communicating the value of scientific research and it’s implications and importance to a broader general audience.

I began working for the Moorea Coral Reef LTER in 2012, and this past summer I had the opportunity to work as a research assistant in Moorea, French Polynesia, studying coral reef community ecology. The experience prompted me to keep a blog for my family and friends – and it also gave me the opportunity to talk about all the amazing and different aspects of coral research I was learning about – which can be found here on my wordpress site:

Now, I am working as a science writer for the MCR LTER, writing articles on current news, outreach events, and exciting research activities happening in coral reef ecology.
