Habitats Studied

The MCR time series program has been designed around a spatially stratified, hierarchical sampling design. Depending on the taxon or process, the scale and scope of the measurements encompass a variable number of sites, habitat types, depths, or frequencies of sampling.

The most spatially inclusive sampling includes the three primary reef habitat types [fore reef (10 m and 17 m depth), back reef, fringing reef] at two localities on each of the three shores of Moorea. Other sampling occurs in Cook’s Bay, one of the two deep water bays on Moorea’s northshore, and ~ 1 km offshore of the fore reef on Moorea’s northshore.
