Time Series Temporal and Spatial Coverage

These internal-access-only pages serve the MCR-LTER Data Mining Workshops, to summarize our data (both public and not; both cataloged and not). These pages also provide a framework within in which to share preliminary results, and to facilitate cross-discipline data accessibility. Data Mining workshops meet monthly, coordinated by A.Alldredge.

A single day point is plotted for all measurements within a day. Some data are aggregated by month; for those, the 1st of the month represents a monthly aggregate. The combined spatial coverage map was created by A.Brooks in 2009. All point kml was done by J.Nielsen. Satellite coverage kml and temporal coverage graphs by A.Guerra. Where data have been processed and posted, colored dots (appearing as lines because nearly continuous) indicate at which depths which kinds of measurements are available. The vertical axis for each mooring represents depth while the horizontal axis shows date.

Biotic Surveys census time graph census sites map The annual surveys of fish, inverts, corals and benthic cover are repeated on transects on the forereef, backreef and fringing reef at all six main LTER sites, with each transect visited once each year.

Coral recruitment, juvenile, and island-scale datasets time coverage is graphed below the annual surveys. Spat count tile sites are on a separate map.

Bob Carpenter PrimProd Sites B.Carpenter's Up/Downstream primary productivity measurements are done only at LTER 1 and LTER 2 (yellow polygons). Algae CHN are from LTER 1 thru LTER 6 (map at right). satellite coverage

Remote sensing data spatial area is much larger than the island, (map at right) and excludes the island and reef, and is not represented on the map at left. SeaWiFS passed and MODIS passes over daily. Monthly aggregates are graphed on the 1st of each month. AVHRR data begin 1985 (Graph cut off at 2005).

Only 6 of those 8 CTD/cruise sites are part of the time series (yellow pins on left map).
